On Friday the 4th of October, 28 students and 5
members of staff went to the Wardens Campsite in Leiston to camp overnight. The camping trip is used to introduce the students to the
Duke of Edinburgh Award that is run at Alexanders College. The students
learned basic camping skills, such as how to set a tent up and how to cook a simple meal.
In the
evening once they had set their tents up and had made dinner they enjoyed on a night
beach walk and Mr Paul did his best to tell some scary stories! They then went
back to the campsite and let off some eco-friendly Chinese
Lanterns, which looked amazing as the floated out over the North Sea. They capped off the evening with some hot chocolate and a sing-song whilst they toasted mashmallows on the campfire.
In the morning, with the dew covering the tents and the
morning mist disappearing, the students
made breakfast, some opting for simple nutella on bread and others attempting a full
English breakfast of bacon, eggs and sausages!
Overall it was a very enjoyable experience for everyone who
took part!
